INFINITUS

Infinitus is a 10-minute sci-fi short I wrote and directed about a world that's lost its sun — an experiment to harness solar energy goes catastrophically wrong, and what's left of humanity retreats underground.

I made it the old-school way, on purpose. Instead of leaning heavily on CGI, the space backgrounds were made with paint in a dish and filmed using a macro-lens. Even the stars are created with paper towel shavings. I met the amazing Joel from the youtube channel "Joel Creates", and with the help of him and my friend Stefo, we built an entire low-budget practical set. I also recruited Rob Wagner who made the Kushtaka costume from my first short film, and I was able to have a scale-model spaceship built specifically for the film with the help of Alex Lang — literally made from a giant hamster ball.

I wanted my actors reacting to something real instead of pressing buttons against a green screen. The film went on to screen festivals and pick up some solid reviews, and it's still one of the projects that shaped how I approach filmmaking today.
