MANDJE

I was listening to dark, melodic tracks by the artist Seabuckthorn and pictured great icy plains, a fisherman doing something in the cold.

This led me to research Brothers Grimm illustrations and build the idea from there. The story dates back to the first edition of Kinder- und Hausmärchen (1812), tale no. 19, originally sourced from painter Philipp Otto Runge. 

Filmed in the cold caves of Wisconsin, and scored by the amazing Yousef Bilal, whom I met while creating a podcast episode, this film became an extremely stylized and special project to me.
